Band Superfriends get to Raya!

This year our friends Band Superfriends will be able to enjoy Raya like the rest of us (read: dapat cuti beb!) They'll be heading back to Kajang, Ipoh, Johor, Pahang and get to eat lemang and ketupat without having to rush back to KL for a nightly performance.

Sangria crowd will miss em for sure! But for only a few days, so just come back at the end of the Raya week ok.

"Though we don't get lots of days, it is enough to give us a chance to fast with our families and raya too. So can we have some duit raya please?" says a bandmember whose name I shall not quote.

So sincerely from the band, its alumni and I, Selamat Hari Raya & Maaf Zahir Batin. Let's rock it!

Quiet week at the Beach Club

The Bersih 2.0 rally is really ruining businesses located the main KL area, and The Beach Club, one of this city's most popular hangouts is suffering.

"It's been really quiet in the Club since the last few days," says one of the members of Band Superfriends I met today. "Even the regulars pool are cut by half. We've never seen so many space to walk across on the floor."

We were at Midvalley and the lunch tables are filled with friends and music-minded folks. We're just simply Malaysians trying to eke a living, the bunch of us. No righters, no lefters.

"Since Ambiga has had her chance to sit down with the King, how come the rally is still on? Wasn't the rally meant to deliver a memorandum to His Highness? Couldn't she do away with the rally and just hand it over? Must it be after a big fuss? Must they wait for people to get hurt? We're already hurting. My boss says Saturday is an off-day, so that means I'm losing my weekend commissions, damn my pocket is hurting!" enthused a friend.

"What are their demands anyway? Beyond using the ink and the undi pos issue I don't see any other point. As for a clean spick-and-span election, if you can't trust EC then how come at the last GE results were so mixed? Don't we already have neutral party observers since way before?" another friend mumbled in between mouthfuls of Japanese bento.

"The other thing I don't understand, Ambiga said, I read in The Malay Mail la. Ambiga felt she didn't need to apply for a permit now that the King says OK, but said they are making her apply. Next she said Bersih won't take responsibility if rally gets out of hand, then expects the police to be the one who should take responsibility to ensure rally is done without ruckus. Isn't she the one doing the organising? Shouldn't organiser be responsible?" I asked.

"Ambiga do not want to take responsibility, but can easily hand over the task to the police if her 5,000 marshalls could not control the crowd. But will she be one of the 5,000 on the street among the common janes and joes? Am I the only one who sees the Bersih organisers as selfish? I bet if someone gets hurt they will easily wash their hands. I'd hate to think that such educated folks will do something as sneaky as eluding responsibility for their own actions," ranted one of the more serious guys - the Abang among the group at the lunch table.

"I'd hate to think of things that can go wrong that day. We have to work. And Beach Club is too near Stadium Merdeka. Tomorrow night the band may have to walk to work cause all the roads will be closed. Some of us will be carrying heavy equipment!" said the Korgian.

"And some of us got a bad leg and a yellow Kenari!" whined the other musician.

"Is it too much to hope for the Club to grant us a night off, you think? I rather not get my pay for that day than risk my own safety!" the voice of the band concluded.

I really hope nothing bad will happen. Guys, let's hope nothing bad happens.

Summer sounds

Band Superfriends has been playing at the Beach Club since end of May 2011, but this blogger failed to keep you guys abreast. Heard they've updated their songbook with a few of my favourite tunes but since I've left the club scene of late, I've been out of tune myself.

Had I been still a club frequenter, I would been writing a few titles for them to layan for the first set - Bruno Mars' The Lazy Song and Avril Lavigne's whaddahell track would be a couple.

But since I ain't going I ain't holding my breath...

In any case, the band's still doing their recording works bit by bit, as between nightly duties and daytime work they've each got a lot going on.

Did I ever tell you they've got a new (well, new enough for me) drummer?

Band kept busy

If you're wondering why band Superfriends are not hanging out after work that long in the wee hours anymore, it's because they've taken a side career (yes, another one!).

You know some of them folks have been dabbling in bundle business, and Najuib's now a motorcycle enthusiast, following Siti the Korgian's footsteps. To supplement this Najuib is now also dealing motorcycling get ups from riding suits to riding shoes, gloves to goggles...

But the other side career I was talking about is actually doing corporate dinner shows. Yep, just this month they had two events involving corporate family days and annual gatherings of professionals. And how they enjoyed their Port Dickson event!

So if you're attached to one of the big wig corporate companies, don't be surprise if the same folks you hang out with outside your office hours suddenly pops up at your company's event, playing tunes from the 80s along to your boss' awful Bon Jovi-esque singing....

p/s: My boss believes he can do a credible Siti Nurhaliza, and I tell him, "Sure you can. Malaysia Boleh!"

Superfriends, not Superfriends

After receiving a number of queries and some comments, I suppose tis only fair that I put a lil disclaimer here:

The "Superfriends" who will be performing at Istana Budaya is not the "Superfriends" the band we've come to love through their nightly performances in the club circuit circa Malaysia. So no, band Superfriends is not involved. Just so you ain't gettin' confused over these things.

Meanwhile, best of luck to both Superfriends in their future undertakings. Guys, catch them both if you can, cause I'm sure they'll rock the house. I mean houses. Both houses. As in both Istana Budaya and Rum Jungle.

And that's what happened to the band recently. It stemmed out of exhaustion, from having to perform, practice, and run personal lives as they know it.

One high-decible complain.

A few lemme-just whines.

A couple heated exchanges.

Uno wushu kick!

And one of them begs for forgiveness and a stop to a stupid scuffle.

Then all was well again.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is what being in a band is all about. It's about being a family. Love it or hate it, but you just got work it and sort it.

As long as you don't go, "Aku tolong je band ni...", you'll be just fine.

Beyond music, more variety

The enterprising crew among the band Superfriends members, Najuib, Siti and Nadzir are kinda busy right now, making sure that their bundle boutiques take off. Yep, for these three members of our favourite band, Superfriends, there's life beyond just good music.

Let's face it. The guys only work at night and practice their new tracks in the wee hours of the morning. There's still a bunch of hours to kill after a good 6-hour sleep.

So since dabbling into their bundle clothes business some four years ago starting from a modest 'gerai' thing at Downtown Cheras, the three musicians has moved on to open a brick-and-mortar establishment to take their business further. Siti's calling her shop 'Thick & Thin'.

I'll post some pix the next time Blogger is behaving. Today's connection sucks!

On second thought, how bout heading down to Galaxy Ampang mall - their bundle clothes boutique are located on ground floor. If you can find the Korean grocery store, you can find Najuib, Siti and Nadzir's place. Have fun!

Musicians makin moolah

Years ago I blogged about the hardworking members of band Superfriends and tagged some photos of the bundle clothes stand that they've got goin at Downtown Cheras. Well guess what, the boys and girl of Superfriends have moved up a notch - they've opened a brick-and-mortar outfit at Galaxy Ampang.

So if you're a fan of branded clothes at better price, give them a visit! Their shops are located at ground floor of Galaxy Ampang, and after buying some stuff you can catch a movie in the oh-so-retro cinema, MBO.

I'll post some photos later - didn't bring my hard disk lah!

Intermitten projects

Looks like the band will be taking a little break from club action and going deeper into studio stuff. Last I heard from the band, next month they'll be playing at a two different clubs, but altogether a total of 4 out of 7 nights only.

Their free nights (and days) will be dedicated to making more sounds suitable for radioplay. At the same time Korgian has opened her own bundle shop/tech discard opposite Najuib's at Galaxy Ampang, so drop by there to check out her collection!

Recorded final entry with RTM

The band recently completed recording their final-entry song, Cerita Cita with RTM. Apparently that TV station will be producing a compilation album of all the original songs played by finalist bands for the recent Rentak Juara 2010.

Hmm, after that poor production of the finals event, I wonder how the album will turn out. No questions about sales, as we all are aware not too many artistes in this country is making a living out of their album sales.

But will quality be something left to be desired? Only time will tell.

It took me a really long time to get into the mood to write on this blog again. It's just so crappy when you know you have to deliver bad news.

But I guess by now you guys heard about the Rentak Juara results. Superfriends did not come back with the RM200,000 loot. They got third place, but there's not much in store for third placing.

That part I'm not so bummed about. After all it is a competition and we can only do and hope for the best.

The part I'm truly tension-nak-mampus about is when Superfriends told me that they knew ahead (like nearly a week ahead) that they're not gonna win.

Here's what happened. It was less than one week to final when the band got an SMS saying, "You guys won't win but Zham will receive the best guitarist award."

At first they didn't believe it. But the person who sent them the text said that he found out from RTM folks themselves.

So the band decided, no matter what the outcome will be, they're not about to go down sounding like shit. So they brought their best ammo on stage, and as I watched them on telly that night, they did sound good, if not the best that night.

Of course there's the part where Syawal's hailer mic was not working initially and suddenly it burst out loud, same goes for Siti's melodian. I could not hear much of Nadzir's bass, but I was happy to see him move around in sync with Zham, Najuib and Syawal. Sabar ye Abang Roslan Aziz, kitorang kat rumah dengar boleh la tahan tak tau pulak kat dewan RTM yang baru dan hebat tu lagi teruk bunyinya.

I love their freepop song, Cerita Cita, though I did prefer their rockin' version of Takkan Ku Berundur better. But I did not expect a Feminin song could sound that current and concert-material-like. I bet the KRU boys knew deep down that their song really do have the potential to sound different given a few twists in the arrangement.

Of course there were other bands that sounded good as well. I mean the eventual winner, E-6's Gipsi Terakhir and Car Crash Heart's song were quite something to listen to as well. Enava also played a song from their album, which was OK but the first thing on my mind was, "Hey I've heard this song before."

The gang told me though they were in Seremban for four days, they did not get to do a proper soundcheck at all. Everyone simply bang away the shooed off the stage by RTM team so practically none of them got the chance to really do any adjustment to suit their performance.

I think the band who got the worse deal that night was Alternature, who went on first. What to do, with RTM I think it is always a case of "Let the first band play and we use them to adjust whatever. Who cares if they sound sucky on TV or in the hall!" which I think is so unfair for them. There goes the tidak-apa and nasib-engkau-la attitude government servants are always being associated with.

And who ever took care of the stage really did not do their job. I mean why was Pol lurking onstage when Anthem was still finishing off their performance gimmick? Is it a way to cut short their time? If it is, then that particular trick suck OK. It just killed their end note in a very perplexing manner. The same too happened when Muaz too did the same mistake minutes after another performance.

Another perplexing element was having the guest stars perform IN THE MIDDLE OF THE COMPETITION. Whaddaheck?

To top it all, Fenomena's vocalist could not be heard for a good several minutes! Who was the sound guy there? What? The guy did the sound for Usher's concert? Tipu kot....

As for the best keyboardist award, I believe the guy from D'Rough Mixture should've gotten the award. It's got nothing to do with his state, more of the guy is a damn good player la. My pick for best drummer was E6's drummer who had to sing to relief the main vocalist who was sick. I supposed that was also the reason why their first song was sang straight, hardly any new element added into the arrangement. Er Helen Yap tak kisah pulak?

Best song? Penyesalan. Seriously? I thought the song sounded quite familiar, can't believe someone like Helen Yap could not detect it there and then. Oh wait. Didn't everyone who got a band and did an album back in the 1990s have a tune that sound something like that? But have to give it to the vocalist - he really can scream the right notes. Maybe Malaysians still dig those kind of tunes... or it just sounded sort of fresh given the influx of Indonesian music in the scene.

Anyway. Prize giving ceremony bla bla bla. Afterwards, apparently Man Felda and Man Kidal went to band and told them that the both of them gave highest marks to Superfriends, but the judges did not get a chance to get together and discuss their marks - who would if the guest stars have performed in between the competition when the norm is they should play after all contestants have come out to give judges some time to coordinate.

Well thanks very much Mister Producer. It was one hell of a show.

Superfriends + RM200,000!

Let's pray for the RM200,000 success for our favourite band, Superfriends. Come 17 July, 2010, we'll know for sure if this time it is their rezeki to win the big bounty.

Tune in to TV2's Rentak Juara 2010 at 8.30PM that Saturday, and see the band perform live from RTM's newest auditorium located in Seremban. Even better, be there! Not that you have to be carrying banners and wearing mascot outfits, a thunderous applause will do.

So if any of you guys do end up in Seremban on the 17th, catch me a photo or two and a lil video too. I'd be happy to feature it in my next entry and credit you guys for your hard work.

Semoga Superfriends berjaya menang RM200,000 and more at this upcoming RJ finals. Aminnnn...

I'm trying to load the footage of Band Superfriends' stage rehearsal of the first round of their RTM Rentak Juara 2010. Not sure if Blogger will let me get this done.. Anyway... TING! TING!

Superfriends' is up for their second round in RTM's Rentak Juara 2010: Julang Jati Diri. This time the guys will once again feature their own song. I won't tell you guys much about this song - you have to tune in to RTM2 at 8.30PM to find out.

But what I can tell you is that the band composed the song together, and this was done during the time Nadya was around - which means in terms of vocals Superfriends featured both Najuib and Nadya's infusions. So no telling what their up to. I'm thinking they might use Syawal's vocals to replace Nadya's lines... or could they talk Siti into it instead?

The other song they'll be playing will be a folk song - as per required by RTM. I kinda admire RTM's creativity in giving out the challenges. They're using themes like Current Hits, P. Ramlee's classics, Love Themes, Award-winning songs... and so on.. So the participating bands have a good chance to show their level of creativity and musicality.

Best of luck to Superfriends! Let's pray they'll bring home the RM200,000 and bag some of the Best Musician titles... Amiiin.

Superfriends preps for next RJ round

^ Someone gave me a screenshot of Roslan Aziz's FB status in which he noted "Roslan Aziz thinks Superfriends is a good band". Well there's room to grow guys!

It's quite an experience for the band to see rave reviews about their performance a couple of weeks back. To have one of the judges, Roslan Aziz tell last week's contender, Enava that they are the band that can give Superfriends stiff competition is also an honour.

Firstly that just goes to show that even after five rounds of RJ prelims, Superfriends is still one of the more memorable bands out there.

Secondly, Enava itself is a great band and its lead singer is one of the most seasoned and multi-talented performer.

So on both accounts I believe Superfriends should take note that they really need to gear up as judges, competitors and viewers' expectations are soaring high. No pressure guys - just have fun and give us your best arrangement, best sounds and best performance at the next RJ round!

Rentak Juara 2010: First round

So here's me providing you the backscene and frontscene stuff on Superfriends' participation in Rentak Juara 2010: Julang Jati Diri.

The pix above shows the band in casual outfit during stage rehearsals. I had to wait hours before it was their turn. But it was fun! I got to see what the Kristal boys are like, and same goes for the rest of the participating bands.

It was my first time hearing the band's fully revamped song, Takkan Ku Berundur. The band had injected their influences into the song as well as a rap piece in between to spice up the track. Recalling what it sounded when Siti cut the demo (then untitled), it's clear that the song had gone through a major arrangement process, which the bandmates said they had fun doing it.

Since I had the chance to watch each band for Round 3 live, I have to say Sons of Adam gave me a pleasant surprise with their rendition of Bunkface hit song. I thought Aweera's gang and Crash also sounded cool.

Anyway the band is working hard for their next outing on 26 June. So folks, stay tuned and let's pray for their success!

SF in RJ2010: Through to the next round!

Yes I'm late, but YES SUPERFRIENDS IS THROUGH TO THE NEXT RJ ROUND! Semis here they come!

Not finals but it is a big achievement as it is. Considering the band had to go through SMS round during their previous RJ journey, this year they sailed through.

In fact the judges had good comments for them, as well as a couple of constructive criticism for them to work on.

The good: Judges said the band's musicians did well. Our favourite keyboardist Korgian was also singled out as one of the more outstanding musician of the night.

The good: Judge Roslan Aziz even said compared to other bands that night as well as previous two weeks' rounds, Superfriends did good. (He even put it in his FB status, "Roslan Aziz thinks Superfriends is a good band!" - just how cool is that???)

The you-need-to-work-on-this: Performance of the vocalists. And the band is working hard to improve on this area, as well as up the ante on others.

Over RTM's Rentak Juara Facebook page the band also received both good and bad comments. But it was interesting to see RTM's key person Datuk Mokhzani defending the band against one particular bad comment.

So kudos Superfriends! I really hope your next outing will be just as mind-blowing.

Amidst all the Rentak Juara excitement, here comes another bombshell of a news: Superfriends is now one woman stronger with the latest addition into their six-piece line-up.

So friends, let's welcome Tom to the band!

Tom is the winner of last season's MyStar LG, a reality talent show aired over TV3. An avid rocker, the band believes she has the specific range and tone that mix well with the rest of Superfriends.

Superfriends in RJ 2010 Top 30

Some of you guys prolly heard the news, some of you may even caught them on TV, but word is out and sure enough, Superfriends is in Rentak Juara 2010's Top 30 bands!

You can seek out the official stuff at Facebook (search for Rentak Juara RTM) and stay tuned to TV2 at 4.30PM for updates, or you can hear me babbling here.

Here's what I know:
1. Superfriends will be in the Round 3 week, where they will go against bands such as Aweera's Band. So tune in to TV2 on 15th May, prime time to see them in action!

2. They'll be playing their own song! It's a zap up version of Takkan Berundur, which Siti Korgian composed some two years ago. I've heard the track (original version), and I hope the new version which supposedly features heavier sounds will please the crowd, judges and most importantly, you guys who are their friends and supporters.

3. The band will go skeletal - they could not find a female vocalist in time. (Nadya mana?)

4. There will be awards for best drummer, best guitarist and best song. But no best vocalist or best keyboardist award! Too bad for Najuib, Syawal and Siti! Let's pray RTM will suddenly come up with those awards, just as how they came up with SMS round in the last minutes of Rentak Juara first season.

5. Superfriends would appreciate your good wishes, prayers and support! I hope they'll go through to the finals at first try, no need for SMS round or anything like that. It's too intense!

6. Let's hope Superfriends will win the RM200,000 bounty! Aminnnnnnnnnnnn.

Superfriends in RJROTC as...

Guys and gals, our friendly musicians will be appearing on RTM soon, they're giving Rentak Juara Rythm of the Champions another go. This time the line-up is down to only 6 of them due to lacking of main female vocalist. Oh I remember the good ol' Nadya days!

But let's wish em luck and enjoy their upcoming performance(s), hope they'll take top spot this time!

By the way, six-piece-Superfriends will be using a different name... and you'll find out as soon as the first episode airs next month...

Superfriends at Borneo Baruk this Feb

Dayang is back again to help out the band, with Shira going off to seek greener pastures. I'm not too sure if she'll be a permanent fixture like Syawal, but heard her specialty is ballads.

So you ballad fans out there, for something fresh check out the band this month at Borneo Baruk at Jalan Kia Peng, KL.

p/s: There's lots to gossip about - like what our old Friends are doing - Niza got married, congrats! Heard Syima is expecting and Apiz's band Rocket Planet didn't ace the Twisties Bingit challenge as we all had hope for. Better luck next time brader... Early birds!

Borneo Rainforest had a bit of an audio problem these past few weeks, so much so there's several days our band of friends, Superfriends, don't even get the chance to perform!

But the good news is, on days they can resume work, they start a bit early than usual and finish off a bit later. So if you are in Sunway right after a day of hectic office life, swing by and likely you'll get to see the band in action as you're ordering your dinner.

Back to homebase

Band Superfriends' dear ol' Shuq was asking me over email when Superfriends will be back in KL... They're back! Arriving from Kuching via a very early morning flight on 1st September 2009, the boys and girls are still very tired from their three-month contract at Merdeka Palace.

Plus now that they're back in Semenanjung, break fast times are not as early as Kuching! But I'm sure if you guys call 'em up and invite them for Buka, they'd be in better spirits.

Just so you know, the band is taking a break this Ramadhan and Syawal - a first in 10 years! Can you believe it! Since the band began they've never gotten a chance to opt for holiday during fasting or Raya month, so they're all looking forward to have a great one with their family and friends.

But this doesn't mean they won't be touching their instruments at all, just last night I heard they will be playing at a couple of private functions over the weekend. Enough to collect duit raya lah I suppose. But the rest of the days - they're free!

As for their next gig after the break... It'll be in KL - so I'll let you guys know the moment they've confirmed things OK.

Siti aka Korgian texted me yesterday - The band is having seafood at our favourite seafood joint, Top Spot. This place serves mean black pepper crab, and those into exotic food, there are more creatures to choose from!

Playing at Merdeka Palace's music hub till end of August you guys should head down to Kuching this month if you wanna catch the band and Rainforest Music Festival 2009 that's happenning on the second weekend in July. This music combo, now that's a real treat!

The only time I get to do this was back in 2004, when Rainforest's last gala concert was held on my birthday - not that I'm anyone special but hey, can perasan a bit what.

OK I'll post that video on Superfriends' latest siren in my next post I hope. Internet connectivity is real bad today...

It's been a while since I've graced a club and hang out with friends. About two Saturdays ago, I managed to drag my butt out of my mundane schedule and meet up with Gigi-lover Jyja and her family for a dose of Superfriends.

True to their word, the mee kolok at Borneo Rainforest is worth ordering. Too bad we all came in a bit later than planned, most of the kitchen items are no longer available for order.

Anyway back to the music - I am glad to finally catch the new singer in action. Will post a video of that in my next post. Meantime, here's us having fun!

^ First I bumped into pals Ijoy and Niza inside - man were they ready for the camera or what! I like it when people appreciate me taking their shots like this duo did :)

^ After the first set we got seats outside where we can still hear Superfriend's music and eat! So on the far left next to Zham is Iskandar and to Siti's right is his half, Jyja and their son, Johan. FYI Johan attended Gigi's gig when he was a mere foetus.

If last month our gal Syima graced us with her presence and R&B-fused vocals, this month be prepared to hear a new voice and some fresh drum rolls alongside our favourite band, Superfriends.

Yep, yep, change of line-up again. Since the band will be moving their gig to a new town across the sea in June, the new vocalist and drummer will replace Syima who could not travel due to commitments in KL.

In any case, Superfriends will still rock! See you all in Borneo Rainforest ya...

Everyone's seems to be complaining about the economy and worsening working conditions nowadays, but such a thing didn't seem to exist last night at Borneo Rainforest, Sunway. The crowd, young and young at heart, welcomed Superfriends with their warmest partying mode.

Says Siti aka Korgian, the place serves commendable mee kolok and pineapple rice, so give your tastebuds a Sarawakian treat while you're there.

Syima the vocalist with glee reported that Superfriends now is also on Facebook (with a lil ahem she also said the MySpace page hasn't been updated for sometime. Hahah I can relate to that!).

Superfriend's drummer Faizal is reportedly demam secara tiba-tiba (sudden fever, if there is such a term). Speedy recovery...

In any case, BTL stands for Band Tanpa Letrik (band without electricity), and that's a concept they will be revisiting in conjunction of Earth Hour 2009.

It is totally totally my fault that this blog has been quite inactive for a while. Work is taking a toll on me and somehow my writing skills diminished... faded... disappeared...

But I'm back! Two things to report on our friends the Band Superfriends.

Firstly, they're on a break this month, lovely old March. There's going to be just a few stuff here and there for them to fill up the month.

The band would like to thank two wonderful singers who helped them out at Swing for the recent contract - so here's a shout out to Dayang (who will be appearing in Jangan Lupa Lirik) and Hani! Best of luck to the both of them.

Secondly, the reason to celebrate - it seems that Superfriends has yet to find singers to replace Syima and Apiz. So, (drumroll please) Syima will soon be back for a bit next month to help the band out for their next contract.

O' EDA dear, lovely Anonymous from Italy and Rob my man, stop the sobs ;)

Where's Superfriends' next contract? You guys remember my earlier post about Syima not being able to travel right... So it's gonna be somewhere in Klang Valley, this much I can tell.

Word has it that band Superfriends was back in KL yesterday to recce a contract opportunity that will make sub-urban KL as their next stop after Swing. But nothing's confirmed yet...

Also, on Monday last week I bumped into the guitarist, Zham said the band's busy practicing with the two new singer. In his words, "Bole-bole la... Tapi rambut Siti dengan yang lain-lain dah macam ape tah... Asyik practice je... "

Yesterday I got to talk to the keyboardist, Siti, who said that the crowd at Swing was quite happenning despite Kuantan's wet season.

Band Superfriends said adieu to 2008 at The Beach Club just a few days ago, and now they're opening 2009 at Swing in Kuantan, a spot in Malaysia where there's been good memories for the band.

To fans of Apiz and Syima, sad to say the two vocalists will not be there the next time you catch the band -they both said goodbye to the band as Syima is not able to travel with the band and Apiz has decided to stop fooling around and get a 9 - 5 job hehehe...

This makes way for two new lady vocalists to replace them. Watch out for more updates!

And that lovely love-lost tune from Alanis, "You Oughta Know"? And Creed's "Arms Wide Open" and Matchbox20's "Unwell" and Offspring's "Come Out and Play"?

OK I'm probably stuck in a weird era. But sometimes certain clubbers ask "Why does certain band keep singing that certain song? That song is old..."

It's coz those songs are crowd favourites. So Najuib keeps singing "Black Magic Woman", Korgian has to do that Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive.."

Band Superfriends is back in action at The Beach Club, KL!

They play everyday except Monday, so make sure you guys catch them there. For folks out there who hasn't been clubbing with the band for some time, you will see a new face, Faizal, behind the drums.

Yes, Sham has left the band to persue a personal matter, so best of luck to him.

Korgian tells me the band's repertoir is quite fresh, as they've got a lot of prep work done before they came back from Malacca. However with a new member on the team, we must give them a bit of time to get the groove synergised ya.

Sigh, Superfriends will play their last gig for the Malacca contract tonight - then back to KL, but hey Malacca ain't that far right, so the band and the friendly and fun-lovin Malacca folks will likely bump on weekends I hope!

I'm trying something new up here, hopefully with luck you guys can see a video of the band playing... Gosh as if I was auditioning for Sesame Street or somethin'. Thanks to a comment supplied by #1fan, I found this booboo and now will rectify the situation.

Let's start with the stuff we like.

I know recently Syima has developed a taste for Gigi, propelled by the band's long-time fan Siti. I know Siti has "taken into custody" one of Gigi's rare Brownies-the-movie-inspired album from Najuib, who earlier on "took control" of her copy Untuk Semua Umur album.

Some of Superfriends' friends like Babin and co keep asking for Muse songs. Superfriends have already kept Muse under their radar and as soon as the demand is there, so goes Time Is Running Out.

Another song Superfriends wanted to bring out to the crowd earlier on was System of A Down's Chop Suey! But when this idea to cover that song came about the band's crowd wasn't quite familiar with it so they had to resort to playing the more popular tracks.

Nadzir is one of the earliest to catch the new Metallica album, which he has not quite grown a liking to it yet. Well, I like Metallica better in St Anger too, rather than their older brainworks. But I kinda like the somewhat "turn-back" sound they've done in their latest effort.

Hafiz and gang recommended L'Arc-en-Ciel not too long ago. In Tokyo the band's (as well as others' I like such as B'Z and Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra) CDs are humongously expensive!

Siti is always about No Doubt and her kache Gwen Stefani, in case you guys haven't noticed. Hmm... what does Zham like? And what do you like?

Let the band know so they can try to give you guys more to listen to.. Drop a line..

They are now engaged with a two-month contract with Malacca's Pure Bar (Aug & Sept) but they play only on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Huiyoh got cuti beb. So you'll see them hangin around 1U or BB on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays la.

Chope chope! First set at Pure Bar starts 9PM, last set ends at 2.15AM.

Swinging back to Kuantan

Superfriends is back in Kuantan!

Most of you who visited Band Superfriends' MySpace page will likely have heard about this already ja... so I shall add the latest news on their set times.

If you guys wanna go check the band out at Swing, Kuantan, these are their performance schedule from Tuesdays to Sundays (yeah off day is on Monday):

Set 1: 9.30 - 10.15PM (Break: 30 mins)
Set 2: 10.45 - 11.30PM (Break: 30 mins)
Set 3: 12.00 - 12.45AM (END)

In case I got this wrong, somebody out there in Kuantan please give me a hollar ja!

P/S: Damn I survived Kuantan! Did my miserable diploma there and the only thing I enjoyed was the super good food! Actually the only miserable part was having to go to classes in baju kurung! OK there was a few anal sophomores as well.. And a couple of truly lousy lecturers.. and a bunch of assholes in my classes.. oh don't get me started!

Got a bit of bad news and good news here.

Most of the time I'll go with good news first, but this time around I have to tell the bad news first before the good news so that my story flow. Haven't written a story that flows well for a long time now.. So that's prolly why I didn't win that award stuff.. huhu..

Enuf about me! It's about the band.

So bad news: Sham the drummer, or better known as Sham Bulu, has left Superfriends.

As reported through Band Superfriends' MySpace site, the band will be leaving for Swing, Kuantan at the end of this month and move on to Pure Bar, Melaka after that.

Not able to travel, the hard-hitter Sham Bulu has decided to be the wind beneath Superfriends' wings and let them (as sang by Bette Midler)..

.. fly... fly... fly away! Ve vill miss his polite conversations and Professor Serba Tau humour...

Having parted on a high note, let's get on with the next piece of news.

The good news: After a lot of searching, the band gets Sham Headhunter to rejoin Superfriends. Hence the "new face" behind the cymbal you guys has been seeing at Titanium since a week ago.

To fill the void left by Sham Bulu, Sham Headhunter has been roped in to reassume his previous position as drummer. Previously Sham Headhunter is known for his accurate skills and unique grooves, so you can expect good stuff coming out from him.

Superfriends note that his playing has evolved a lot. The last time I heard him play with Superfriends (eons ago!) Sham Headhunter is supercool especially when playing stuff from No Doubt and rock rocks.

Can't wait to hear him playing the Sounan song from Tokyo Jihen!

The band is busy practising almost everyday now. Heard their next gig will be in a city in the East Coast, but I hope they'll get a contract in KL instead.

I've been busy trying to load their video on YouTube and link em back here, but so far my computer proved to be unworthy of such cause. Damn slow la wey!

In any case I've also not had the chance to see them in Titanium. Sobs! It is kinda daunting for me to go to these new, unfamiliar club. I wish they're playing at places I am more familiar with, hey even Planet Hollywood (a club with great food, but sometimes sucky service) would do!

Lightweight duty in Titanium

Sooooooo sorry guys, I know I've been rather schlompsy lately. Busy migrating to a new PC! Yep I've gotten a new system to work on, not mine, but good enough for time being. Also busy loading up some YouTube stuff so that I can link em back here.

In any case our friend Sumee just dropped a note askin more about Titanium. From the Korgian it seems the band is enjoying their time at the new club. They start quite early, 9PM, and finish about four sets after so expect them already home by 1/1.30AM.

The thing is, Titanium's kinda on a hot roll, so lots of events are being held there. Last couple Saturdays for example, the band get to wrap up early (after a couple of sets) to make way for these ad-hoc events.

So if you're keen to see the band play good music, leave your crib early!

p/s: Wind of change is blowing... Intrigue? Nanti wa cerita lagi sama you all.. But it's definately something to look out for!

Superfriends @ MySpace

Ladies and gentlemen,

Band Superfriends is now back on MySpace! Thanks to Shima! Go see la! Then let me know what you think?

For me there's still a lot of stuff about the band you can find out at this site. For example, I always thought Shima's name is spelled with an "H", but as you will later discover at http://www.myspace.com/bandsuperfriends , a "Y" is used instead.

Hence from this sentence forward, Shima is Syima! (Errata coming up. Oh we're online, not on print eh, so corrections will be done and no traces will be left. Cool.)

Just so you know if memory serves, one of our super friend, Sue once started a MySpace page for the band too, but I'm not sure if it is still active as Sue has quite demanding work commitments. The more the merrier, so mari kita ramai-ramai tepuk tangan and give all Superfriends web presence some traffic.

Back to the new MySpace site, I gotta warn ye that the bahasa pengantar is not quite English all the way. Amigo mire, por favor, amigo comprende. (OK my Spanish is obviously not at all great either.) Enjoy!

Superfriends to play cha-cha?

Hear ye, hear ye, Superfriends is now playing at Titanium Damansara from 9PM to 12AM. Three sets only! Crowd comes early!

I still could not figure out where the club is located. I kept thinking it was at Rush, that one club within the CP Tower/Siemens area, but I will get there soon enough and find out.

But cha-cha? Really? Well how bout that..

If anyone caught the band doing it please video it a bit! I'm in the midst of setting up a video account and linking some footages to this blog. With the lousy connection I'm working with, it might take a while, but hopefully it will be up real quick.

p/s: Been meaning to blog about this bloke who had a crush on one of the bandmembers. Tragic really, but it will remind us all to seize the day and as Rick Astley once sung, love won't wait..!

Superfriends got off stage..

What would make good musicians who love making good music get off stage for more good music at the same time get some good time off of their own good music?

For Superfriends bands like Gigi and Hujan would do. Here's Apiz, Shima, Siti, Nadzir and our mate Niza (plus Shima's gang in the background and Bibi was out of the frame, mea culpa) having fun at the recent Sunburst 2008.

Gigi was playing and everyone claimed Thomas the bassist winked at them. Pop Shuvit brought rain and Joe Flizzow did help much, Hujan leveraged on its namesake to get the crowd feverish (in all sense).

Tengokla Apiz, Bibi dengan Niza cam tak puas ati je time Hujan perform tu sebab they could not afford to join the throng and get wet and fall sick. George Clinton was well.. er.. one had diaper-ish garment on but played good music nontheless, and all was cool..

We bumped into old music-lover-music-maker friends and 'tis good to know they're doing good. I could not persuade the bandmates to come back here after work, otherwise they could've been enjoying the last half of Incubus - ya man the half-naked half! Rugi kan?

On a more important note: You guys are gonna miss Superfriends this week - some of them are holidaying in Bangkok, some chillin' out in their hometown and some spending precious time with their family. They will be back next week at the new joint in Damansara.. Anyone knows where Titanium is?

Many of us know what Superfriends do when they're on the stage. They rock, they rock hard. But what do they do when they're off the stage?

Above pix were recorded by Rockstar last month kot. I remember asking him to help me out but after getting the pix I could only hold on to them as my broadband situation did not improve. Now it has, so.

Hi y'all, I know I haven't been diligently updating the Band Superfriends blog for a while now. It's the slow Internet connectivity that I've been experiencing la.. Even to put up photos also so damn slow!

And I don't want to put up text only update, not when everyone else is putting up videos!!! And that's another cita-cita of mine, to put up videos that I've been archiving for the band on this page. I can't even load them up YouTube, so that plan has been shelved.

Nadya came by recently, all pink in health, all dolled up as usual and all ready for a jam. Those of you present last Friday would have enjoyed her small stint on stage, doing what she does best: sing!

She did a couple of numbers, and one of it was Evanescence's Bring Me to Life. Still as good as the day she left, said her bandmates.

For all friends of band Superfriends, especially ones who have not been able to catch the band play lately, I have a couple of news:

[1] The band is playing at Rum Jungle this month. As for next month, I'll tell you all later (heard they'll still be in the heart of KL, but no confirmations yet).

[2] One of the band members recently tied the knot! Again, I'll let the new pengantin announce the great news to you all personally.

Down memory lane

Thee hee hee.. I bet even Superfriends don't even know I got this pix. It is an old photo of the first batch of Superfriends...

The guys at the back (from left) are Najuib (still got hair back then heheh!), Chibor the bassist (now runs a travel agency), Man Kanan aka Man Rongak the drummer (last seen on TV playing for Flop Poppy), Ijal the keyboardist, and Bai the guitarist (now supplying sound for numerous films and dramas).

The gals in front (from left) are Mac, Siti (different or not?) and Adik. Both Mac and Adik are Johorian gals.

In my humble opinion, this was one of the best line up in Superfriends history, and I wish the old Superfriendsonians the best in all they do. In my next post I'll try and post a photo of the new Superfriends line-up, with Shima replacing Nadya in the front-line.

Last night I saw a P. Ramlee movie, one of his earliest work, one of those depressing old movies.. which you only see when you want to hear the good songs they perform at the on set cabarets.

It also featured Seniwati Normadiah, yeah, the one with the voice so unique that even when someone else is onscreen mouthing the lyrics, we can immediately tell that it is not that actress singing, tis Normadiah.

Band Superfriends do include P. Ramlee songs in their repertoire, those of you who ever caught any of their Raya eve performance will know and sing-along to Dendang Perantau. And oh, thanks for not asking them to play it over and over again, it does get more depressing with every note for the rest of the clubbers ya know.

I feel like singin an old song today, one which starts with "Jiwa rasa gelora... Kasiiih padaaaa tarunaa.. Bukan kerna.. iiintan permata, Kerna budi bahasa..."

Simply cause someone in office has that tune set as the ringtone! Maybe Superfriends can play this song one day for me... In my dreams...

In my dreams Superfriends also played that real-rockin' B'Z tune which I love so much, ya know, that song from Life is Beautiful serial. Just now Korgian was also humming My Chemical Romance's new track, Mama - cool! Maybe we'll get to hear them play this song live soon! In my dreams they already did!

Before you ask me, "Ni ape kelas mimpi gi tengok live band ni, dah la sepanjang bulan ni belum sampai lagi Rum Jungle to check out the new line-up?" Let me just hollar that I'm thinking of going there tomorrow, with a bunch of friends, since it's already gaji time.

Anyone else wanna join us?

Request for Raya songs

A dear friend recently asked, if she wants to request band Superfriends play Raya song when she comes to Planet Hollywood, can or cannot?

Hmm.. I better let Superfriends do the answering.

If memory serves me well, the band do have one or two Raya songs in their repertoire, but they only belt it out when working at selected establishments, and if the client/club proprietor requests for it. On another consideration, they will likely play the Raya song as an opening piece on the very first set, and that's it.

I told my friend that sometimes I get the impression that certain clubs do not encourage the performing bands to layan so much of such request (same goes for Xmas, CNY etc), even though the occasion calls for it. Guess they want to retain their usual kind of entertainment offering, regardless what day it is - perhaps a standard that they have to adhere to or something.

Bottomline is, not sure la kak. Let's wait and see if anyone from Superfriends can clarify OK.

Neway we can sing one right now on our own! Here goes..

Where Superfriends dwell

A nine-year old Chinese boy fell from his fourth floor home yesterday, September 5, 2007 at about 5.30PM in the afternoon. He succumbed to injuries and died a few minutes after slipping from a window located near his home floor's lift area.

The boy's family home in Block 1 happens to be about ten floors down from Korgian and yours truly's home, where Nad too was renting with us until about a month ago (she recently moved to a place nearer to KL town). The condo block is next to Apish's family home block, Block 3.

Korgian who came back from running a few errands yesterday afternoon said she saw the boy's grandmother next to the covered body wailing "Come back to popo." I got back from work about an hour after the incident took place. By then police had the area sealed using the yellow perimeter tape, but I did catch the officers taking notes and checking the skinny, fair-skinned body.

Later that night as Korgian left for Planet Hollywood, the area had been cleaned as though nothing life-changing ever took place.

"Alfresco" ladies and gentlemen, means... [~drumroll~] outdoor.

Aiyoyoh, why so pompous-sounding ek? If outdoor, be it di bawah bulan purnama ka, di bawah lampu minyak tanah ka, say la outdoor.. Alfresco sounds like something only painters do on a canvas!

Anyway, if you want good music and good food in alfresco setting, how bout catching the band Superfriends at Alamanda one of these weekends?

I'm just gonna share the details on the Alamanda gig, which I earlier sent in reply to Eliza's query:

Two calls from ERA listeners

Yesterday two mates called me up asking if they heard it right - apparently the ERA deejays been promoting the band Superfriends' gig at Alamanda in their morning show.

The two called me separately, but for the blog I merged the conversation into a conference call.

As: Eh band akak kau main kat Alamanda ke bulan ni?

Za: Pagi tadi kat ERA heboh pasal Superfriends punye show kat Alamanda.

Me: Ha'ah. Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays je. Show start awal.

Za: Kecoh abis deejay2 tu.

As: Haruslah! Kata main kat Planet Hollywood?

Me: PH pun main gak.

As: Camne lak tu?

Me: Planet cam biasa la, all days except Sundays. Mula pun paling awal 10.30PM, selalunya 11PM.

As: Alamanda?

Me: Fridays and Saturdays diorang rush la, abis Alamanda kul 10PM trus lari gi PH.

Za: Uui.. Letih la depa ek?

Me: Aku yang sekadar tengok pun letih gak. Kira hari-hari la kerja.

For those of you who managed to catch Superfriends at Planet Hollywood these past few days will know by now that our favourite singer, Nadya has decided to take a break from singing.

Heard she's settling down - now ain't that great news? All the best Nads! Will miss your Evanescence and Fergie or BEP renditions... (especially Intan, you know she's your No 1 fan whenever you belt out Bring Me to Life).

As a friend of Superfriends who have seen the band start from scratch and work their way up over these years, I can tell you guys that Nad is one of the best singers to have worked with the band.

And who can forget her teasing? So with that I declare her the cheekiest too! And she's always groovin and movin I sure had a hard time photographing her la! Will miss doing that too!

Nadya will still be singing with the band throughout the Planet Hollywood stint. So you all out there, especially Vynuz, don't miss the opportunity!

Superfriends has roped in new singer, Shima to help them out for the Alamanda gigs. Her best works can be heard in R&B tunes, which the bandmates say comes naturally to her.

Based on a particular love-hate conversation somewhere in the blog, my mate and I sincerely offered this dude friendship. But all we got back was hostility, so too bad loh if can't be friends. Just remember ini blog Siti Rosman yang punya, and aiyoh dude, Siti Rosman is not a member of Superfriends, Siti Rosman just plays castanet in her living room, get it? Gosh, it offends me when one doesn't know his enemy well.

Superfriends feat temp new line-up in PH tonight

Tonight will be the beginning of Superfriends stint in Planet Hollywood, KL after a month of semi-break from the clubbing scene (the band did perform as Nebula for Beach Club's Rock Nights last month).

For friends of the band, tonight is the best night to catch the band's new line-up on its maiden performance in the mainstream clubbing scene. Actually the new line-up has performed before in a private function just days ago, and their adrenalin rush will continue on tonight at PH, due to one of the frontline singers taking a break to settle a family emergency.

Though nothing drastic, those who are familiar with the band having frequent their shows over the last several years will inevitably detect a fresh note from the musicians. Like it or love it, let me know if you guys do make it tonight. Remember, come down before 10PM for a better deal.

Me, I'll be there this weekend or the next ladies night I hope with a couple of friends to take a listen to the slightly new sounds of Superfriends. Catch you there!

Superfriends is on holiday!

For the month of July 2007, Superfriends is taking a semi-break, except on Mondays (July 9th and 23rd) the band will play at Beach Club's Rock Night under another name, Nebula.

They decided to use a pseudoname due to the smaller line-up. FYI Nebula has Najuib, Siti, Zham, Nadzir, Sham and Apiz making rock music all night.

Those who saw today's article in Malay Mail's Flip, do note that the band will start their stint in Planet Hollywood in August 2007 ok..

And from the grapevine I heard there may be a change in the line-up!

In the mean time, some of you may already know that Nad's mom is ill, so she's off to take care of her. Other members Sham and Zham will also be spending time with their family.

Najuib and Nadzir are doing a lil bit of business - Najuib's got a store open in Galaxy Ampang selling bundle shoes and clothes, while Nadzir the good cook plans to sell breakfast bits near his house area in Damansara.

Apiz and Siti are going for a trip somewhere. Siti's off to Jakarta with her family and Apiz dengar-dengarnya will be going to Bangkok, betul ke Apiz?

I finally caught Superfriends at C18 recently, and golly isn't the place quite a cozy big club. There's a couple of long bars snaking in front of the high-up stage, and there's even a second level on the side where plush sofas and club games exist side by side.

Got more pix, the next time I get a breather, I'll post individual photos of the musicians at work. If you haven't gotten round to C18 just yet, go for it man, and I'd suggest having dinner there as well, the food there rocks as well!

Last week the band was featured in Malay Mail's Flip section called Around Town. The article includes a short interview with none of the band member, but the club manager instead.

Another one came out last Friday (18/5/2007) (so said our friend, Jyja, the lady who at 5-months preggies, was with me and Siti in the front row during that Gigi concert in PGRM, but that's another story) but I didn't get a chance to save a copy la. Anyone got it?

Nadya, Phil, Apiz, Bibi, Nadzir, Niza, Joey, Siti and I attended guitarist Zham & Sheila's reception in Perak er.. some time ago, I know I should've blogged about it earlier but I was waiting for nicer pix from Apiz or Joey (who brought real cameras instead of a tiny one on Nokia 3220!) but it never materialised.

Familiar faces

Last month, I was away for what felt like years (a whole week) for work again. Went to this place where people read newspapers like "Cattle Today" and preventing blood clots from happenning to sheep and goats makes quite a long article to read.

So on my last flight back (had to take three flights to get home) the first thing I grabbed was the New Straits Times, and here's an update on Superfriends which says the band is playing in Armada till May 31 2007.

Home now, I've finally caught up with the band. Apparently maybe they're gonna be around in Wharf only till the end of this month. So lovely folks, make sure you get to catch them this April before they end their contract there OK..

It ain't easy being a blogger. Having singlehandedly maintaining this blog (and 5 more) for almost a coupla years now, I learnt a lot already.

For those who are still confused, I am not a member of Superfriends. Siti Rosman I am, but I'm not the keyboardist. I can't even play the tambourine! I do have a fascination with that particular instrument though (tambourine, I mean).

I merely document their adventures and misadventures. Good adventures they have. Been lucky to meet decent, kind-hearted, music-loving folks they have, both in-club and on-line.

But as far as I know the band do get their share of brickbats. Some they take graciously - I mean, there's nothing wrong with telling the band that you think they should play that new Justin Timberlake song already. Or dropping a note saying, "Aiyoh! Your lyrics so salah la beb..."

But hardly sober writing "why your band like rat" on a piece of paper just cause the guitarist could not hear on what you're saying cause he's busy finishing off a Santana riff on stage - that's just uncalled for.

Speaking of lousy comments, as the one and only blogger for this site, I've received a few anal ones myself. The band members are nice intelligent folks themselves, so usually they just let the bum be bumps.

On the other hand, I, do get annoyed when they get comments that are uncalled for. I know it is the right of every visitor to note down their two sens worth, - good, bad - but gosh, don't some people just know how to be anal about it!

For Pete's sake, what does cellulite has to do with their performance on stage? As long as they deliver good music, entertaining to the max of their effort, doesn't that count for something?

You think it's easy playing in a live band? You go and do just that please, I'll get me butt to wherever you're playing, and you can tell me there and then. But don't go calling your band Anonymous al-Freakos, cause it might be a bit hard to land a contract ya?

Or do you really have the right to tell people off just because they don't do Heine, Corona or Johnny Walker? Can't you just respect the Coca-Cola, the Sprite and the orange juice? They don't think they're so much better than you just because they do soft drinks, so what the hell makes you think you're so good?

And boy oh boy, am I so tempted sometimes to just delete those comments off, which I can with just a few clicks. But I still have respect for freedom of opinion, so I guess for now I won't. After all, your stupid comment is under your copyright.

So lemme just sing this out loud... All together now!

Managed to make that trip to Melaka with Intan on Feb 10 & 11, 2007. Here's what we did:

^ First stop: Popias and noodles soup at the popular teatime joint next to Tanquerah Mosque.

^ Second stop: Sunset with Barkat's roti john at Pantai Tg Kling (renamed to something else now, I just forgot). After that it was Jonker's Street at its busiest.

^ Third stop: Music at Pure Bar with Superfriends! From 10.30pm to 1.45am.

^ Good music: Lots of new songs but MCR's The Black Parade is my most memorable for the night.

Melaka rocks: The multiracial crowd in Pure Bar seems to love Indonesian pop stuff and hip hop numbers - so we got Samson's hit song and Fergie's solo single.

^ Fourth stop: Night ends at Asam Pedas "Bawah Pokok" (got an official name for the place but again I forgot what lah). Host cat entertains while food is being prepared.

^ Last stop: Brunch at Dataran Pahlawan food court. Beef noodles sold by nice uncle very good to eat as Cheng Ho looks on.

That's the going understatement in the land of Superfriends. Yes, Malacca has turned out to be more of a misadventure than the musicmakers bargained for:

Kisah pengembaraan Superfriends dari Melaka... hingga ke..
Merlimau baby, Merlimau! Yes, tis true, Nadzir got the band lost all the way up near Merlimau in search for the famous Asam Pedas Pasar Borong.

"Melaka dah berubah..." says our dear Nadzir setelah hampir setengah jam Superfriends sesat di negeri bersejarah itu.

But we have to applaud his good intentions, which is to get Superfriends experience one of the best dishes that the state takes pride in. And I heard the food is real good, plus the price is fair (yes the band eventually got to the place to sample the asam pedas).

Kisah seekor customer bodoh yang 'sangat tak tahan'
Secondly, the crowd in Pure memang ramai, as Apiz had pointed out. Unfortunately dalam ramai-ramai tu, a few turned out to be more pening rather than happening.

Last week, a customer, despite getting good music and friendly smiles from Superfriends, tried to make Siti drink coke laced with whisky, purposely lying to her saying it's just coke.

Upon seeing Siti spitting the first sip out immediately, this Asshole had the cheek to laugh at her reaction! Mamat ni nak kena sula ke hape?

If I were there, to the concerned wanker, ni tulus ikhlas gua nak sound sama lu: Woi Busuk... Kalau orang tu dah cakap tak minum alkohol, tak bleh hormat ke? Kalau orang buat naya camtu kat adik lu ke, mak lu ke, bini lu ke, anak lu ke, amacam babe, lu OK ke?

Orang-orang macam lu la buat semua orang pandang serong kat orang-orang lain yang datang ke club just to enjoy good music and good company macam gua ni.

To Superfriends here's my humble suggestion, jangan layan si Busuk tu lagi. Maybe some patrons will see you guys as sombong, arrogant, whatever la - but hey, you can't win them all right, and some, like Busuk here, aren't even worth it.

Korang ingat tak scene daripada cerita Musang Berjanggut.. Kan ada sorang bangsawan tu... Datuk Bentara ke sape ke yang tried to mengorat Puspa Wangi (Sa'adiah) isteri Tun Nila Utama (P. Ramlee) yang kena paksa nyanyi lagu?

Pastu dia pun nyanyi lagu Ram Ram Pisang dengan penuh syahdu...

^ Ni fave photo! Actually Rum Jungle has a very nice layout for live band lovers sbb the stage is in the middle and seats are all around, and there split level to accomodate to those seating at the back.

^ Side profile lak... Yang seated in a row kat belakang tu Yazi, Lisan and co. Dah lama diorang tak turun tengok SF, sampei jugak itu malem.

^ Ni Aina and Intan, my mates for the night. Actually before we got to know Aina dia memang selalu gak tengok SF dengan geng dia.

Den melopeh nak masuk Rum Jungle malam tadi, tengok Superfriends... Yet another new venue for the band, so I really wanted to check out the setting, sight and sound, see if it will make a good hang out spot.

And I haven't even checked them out at The Beach... Ni kes tunggu Intan & her band of RTM musicians to come down la ni...

Shall come back with pictures the next time I upload a posting, I hope.

Apparently the entrepreneur spirit is Superfriends continues during the fasting month.

Apiz and Nadzir, ala, macam Robin dengan Batman tu, along with Niza the Batgirl, is actively making up new beverage concoctions - kurma cincau or as Apiz likes to call it, Kurcau, is among their best seller at the Shah Alam's Bazaar Ramadhan.

At Bazar Ramadhan Cheras, Najuib, Yus and Siti makes up the Cendol trio. Night comes, the kasut bundle limited edition still jalan tau!

Kayo rayolah bebudak band bulan raye ni... Beach holiday la pulak lepas ni!

Superfriends' Beach debut

Guess where Superfriends has been playing these past few days?

Yep, the hottest pick up spot in town, The Beach, Jalan P. Ramlee. Starting their first set as early as 9-ish till last set ends at past 1-ish, expect lots of mat sallehs and after work crowd to be part of the action.

And word has it that they'll be in business there for the next three months! Apparently the management wants them there for the next six months but that's still under discussion.
