Alamekk... Tu la lain kali bacalah New Straits Times

Just yesterday I posted a comment on the previous post, asking for one of the band members to respond to my q, which goes something like this: Ape ke nama kelabnye di Armada tu...?

Sekali bukak newspaper petang tu - yeah I know we all got the copy in the morning but I just wasn't up to reading about earthquakes and lava vomitting volcanos and clan fights happenning within the region so - ade la pulak a write up by an NST journalist, Dennis Chua on Superfriends...

The article ^, "Time to make some super friends", published in New Straits Times, Monday, May 29, 2006 on page 64, carried the news that Superfriends, the band "known for their excellent showmanship and power-packed performances" will be playing at Wharf, Hotel Armada, Petaling Jaya from June to August.

Names of band members were mis-spelled (except for a few), but I'm sure that was not Chua's fault - he must have gotten it from the hotel's marcom - hope that won't affect the cheque they'd be getting soon!

Kuantan pun iye, KL pun iye... So Swing on Superfriends!

Yes it is true, for the first time in the lifespan of the band Superfriends, they hit the happy town of Kuantan...

I have a soft spot for this town, having spent almost two years there in a run down college where boys pretend to be pious (not!) and girls are rampantly crazy (not all, though a sophomore of mine from the Engineering faculty did grab off her tudung and wailed rodeo-like, "Yee haw baby, I'm flyin' to US!" right in the middle of Boom Boom - sungguh memalukan!).

Anyway, back to the band right - yeah yeah, they're having a good time. Most of them has found their way to Teluk Chempedak, where once my good mate and I sat on the sandy beach till the waves eventually hit our feet. They have 24-hours McDonald's there!

And Kuantan folks has been truly welcoming. Band Superfriends want me to put a shout out here for Abang Lan, who has been quick to form friendship with the band and can't seem to stop feeding them! Their thanks also goes to Niza's mom for all the days of wonderful lunch.

They say y'all better make it to Swing - a happenin new club located in the area of Coffee Street (near Berjaya Megamall) where cute Chinese dudes ask for songs from Radja and the crowd look good, dance good, sing good and party all nite.

Except Sundays tho - that's the day when Superfriends make their journey back to Kuala Lumpur to catch the rest of us in Hard Rock Cafe! Yep, Sundays at HRC still on baybeh! See ya all there! Here's some pix from my last outing there hehe...

^ Superfriends in action, pix taken with Olympus mju 720SW but I ruined it with an overdose of Photoshop.

^ Chillin out. Stretching out. That's some move by the soundman there, ain't it? The guys facing me all know I was photographing and no one said anything to Mr Stretch, poor sod. Not!

^ The nite's not over yet! The band saying goodbye to patrons and hit the nearest nasi lemak place.

P/S: I'm gettin' my butt there one of these weekends. In case you folks have the same idea, better make it quick cause Superfriends won't be there long, just one month and after that I heard they'll be in Armada for the next three months...
