Limited skill, limited light, unlimited results

Basically, when the shutter's slow, you'll be able to trap in more light. With more light, the image recorded by the CCD will become clearer and most of the time closer to what you see with your own eyes, especially when you are capturing photos in low light conditions.

Sure, sure. But commercial model cameras aren't usually made to capture people in action under low light conditions. Perhaps I should look into one of those expensive semi or full digital SLR huh..

Anyway, these I got...

^ Used typical Program Mode, couldn't even make out what I was capturing. Initially caught a whole dark photo, but thanks to ArcSoft Studio here's one of the better photos.

^ Of course I did touch-ups to this photo, which I took using timer and the HRC glass as tripod. I think I did something wrong here, see the nice round head of Sham doesn't look so nice eh, and Nadzir's red shirt looked so grainy. Pah! I to despeckle it...

^ Yeah, the band's frontline looked amused but I'm still complaining about the so-called easy to use red-eye reduction feature. They should have something for teeth as well... and in Zam's case, the kening looked somewhat tattoed - sorrik!

^ No, no one outside the band knew what this finger-pointin's all about. Najuib always have something funny to kacau his bandmates with, private jokes no less, but us the ignoramus watching, we enjoyed it too!

^ With the sides of Hafiz and Siti and the backs of Nadya and Zam, obviously this photo was taken right before a set started, and usually at this point of time the band will still have no idea which song they'll play. Everything comes right at the moment the spotlights shoved onto the stage.

^ In this smart blurred photo Nadya seemed to be giving tambourine lessons to Hafiz, and Sham looked as if he's counting that the results would give him some hits away from the cymbals...

^ Circled heads, from left are Nadya, Hafiz and Najuib with the rest of the HRC KL's patrons, chilling out at the sidewalk in front of the club, after the last set ended at 2-something AM. And I just circled those heads for fun, cause I just figured out that the Arcsoft Studio has the tool and you can do a lot with it.. Too bad it doesn't have any tool to enhance the cute guy's in bermuda's back of his head..

Really wish I had taken lots more photos to butcher, but that's it!

Happening place, even on a Sunday?

Hell, yeah. Yep yep, Hard Rock Cafe is a cool place to hang, even on Sunday nights.

Usually clubbers wanna go where there's good music to listen and dance to. And last night, at HRC KL, that, we had.

Of course, the band, the Superfriends, was playing. But I took note that the DJ's taste had improved as well by a tad. So it was alright.

As for me, I look for good service and good food as well. And last night, at HRC KL, that, we had.

The abang waiter was very polite and amusing, and he tried his best to cater to our needs, and succeeded. Then again, I was in the company of beautiful girls - so I guess tis true what they say, pretty girls usually get their ways.

Nevertheless, the same can't be said about the photography experience. I wish I had more optical zoom, I wish I had better flash, and I wish the lights in HRC KL was a bit brighter in certain occasions.

Basically I could not diss the last Ahmad Albab who did the photography on the band. Anyway, I leave you here with some teasers...

^ Tried to do a replicate shot (refer previous post) - now I know how hard night photography is!

^ If you can't beat em, go the other way around hehheh!

^ Haiyo, I so segan wanna stand on the dance floor sorang2 to take this photo, so I zapped through it. Horrible results. Of course the band looked better than this!

I thank HRC for allowing me to take as many photos as the camera battery permitted last night. And most importantly, I'd like to thank the band members who was patient enough to bear with the flash works.

Ini gambar Ahmad Albab yang tangkap!

I didn't get the chance to catch Superfriend's recent performance last Sunday, but keeping in mind that there will be three more Sundays to go this month, I will make it to one of them.

However a friend went, and I managed to persuade him to load me a few photos for the blog. So, the title of this post says it all.

It wasn't me behind the lens this time, it was Yazi, one of the band's ardent supporter. He goes waayy back during Juta days in JB, see, so quite a respected figure among the regulars, he is.

Yep yep, this ^ is where Superfriends' playing this month on every Sunday, Hard Rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur. This is my favourite shot!

I could not decide which of the two (the pix above or below) is better.

And once again...

I decided to post two enhanced copies of the same photo.

Okeh, once I get my butt to HRC one of these Sundays, I'll post more shots to add on today's post.

Pixel crave

Yep, your's truly has been reviewing phones for a long time already now, and the latest worth mentioning is the SE-K750i.

For the uninitiated, let me tell you right out that phone makers now are in the megapixel war, so there I was, trying to figure out if it's a wise enough investment to go for higher megapixel camera.

So, subject chosen: The Superfriends band. Output: See below...

^ Night mode applied, highest pixel setting (large 1632 x 1224) applied.

Note that I was sitting at a bit of a distance away from the stage, and night mode was used, and that the reproductions above and those below were resized materials to suit the template of this blog.

^ Disabled night mode - hmm... still boleh tahan je la..

As you can see the generated images are OK for web-publishing purposes like this, but I wouldn't really have em printed. Still as screensavers or wallpapers, be it on the phone itself or the display of your computer I's say the images were good enough.

^ Can't bloody tell your performer subject to stay still after the shutter clicks now... or was it my hands yang tak rock steady? ...Yep twas me hands... and since Siti's image's quite clear, it was rolly Nadya's swingin' to blame too..

^ Quite colourful output... jadilah.. eh I didn't get any good shot with all the bandmembers in lah.. No hints of a drummer presence, but he's there, he's there...

Hmm, can't really shout about the video capture feature though - oh, I haven't figured out how to video-blog just yet, but as soon as I have time to learn and practice, you'll see some done here as I've got some materials already.

Back to the phone's video capture feature, it will get you good recordings, but the phone does pick up lots of surrounding noise, so you might want to record your clips where there's a bit of peace.

So... aah? What?

Am I recommending that you buy the phone? Naah... That's your decision, don't just take my word for it.

Am I recommending that you don't buy the phone? Heck, naah... (Refer to prior statement about making your own decision and stuff...)

Am I recommending that you go see and hear the band yourself? HELL YEAH!

Kiss me on a Sunday

The band rejoices this month! After four months of working 7-days a week, bringing tunes from Uncle Chilli's to The Ship and from Pedro to Planet Hollywood, the band will take a breather this August.

But fortunately for us live band addicts, it's not going to be a total rest month though, they'll still be playing Sundays at Hard Rock Cafe. Yep, be there at 10PM, or be square!

I know some of the band members has been moonlighting (though in their case, it was more like sunlighting), doing project-based work and even white-collar stuff - so looks like they'll get to concentrate on that a bit more this month.

The rest will enjoy their weekdays off... Balik kampung and stuff...

Heard someone might be going to Kuantan for a long holiday, enjoying the beach and seafood and slower-paced city life...

Heard a couple of them would be churning out MIDI-on-demand...

Heard one of them would be playing real-estate agent for a while...

So happy (partial) holidays guys, enjoy your free nights, and don't grow too attached to Desperate Housewives now. See you on Sunday!

^ Gabrielle, Lynette, Bree and Edie are worth watching... (Photos used above belongs to abc.go.com - thanks for lending - there are more of those there, all downloadable...)
